HAND IN HAND
(My Lovely)
Oh my lovely, put your hand in mine.
Hold on to me, and I'll hold on to you.
Anytime, anywhere.
Remember when you covered my hand, then placed your's over mine on the day I took the shahadah? From that moment on I knew there was no risk and my anxiety was allayed.
Well, we've been that way for such a long, long time. I wouldn't want us to be any other way.
First time I touched your hand was the day we wed. Small and soft, I gave you a gold band, and the bond has been that way ever since then.
Oh my lovely, put your hand in mine.
Hold on to me, and I'll hold on to you.
Anytime, anywhere.
Remember when I kept you from falling with our soon to be daughter? How I caressed your hand at the clinic and hospital all those afternoons?
Well, we've been that way for such a long, long time. I wouldn't want us to be any other way.
Remember the Vancouver to Seattle flight? How you held my hand so tight when that small twin engined plane was tossed about. Your fingernails cat-scratched my hand out of fright.
Oh my lovely, put your hand in mine.
Hold on to me, and I'll hold on to you.
Anytime, anywhere.
How about the time we met that jeweller in Cambridge? He showed us a lovely gold ring, then he asked us something like why we still held hands after so many years?
I told him, we've been that way for such a long, long time. I wouldn't want us to be any other way.
Remember in Makkah when we made our tawaf around the kaaba? You had my back and reached out just before a wave of Arab ladies swept me off track.
Oh my lovely, put your hand in mine.
Hold on to me, and I'll hold on to you.
Anytime, anywhere.
I hope and pray when it is time for us to depart this realm, we will take heart knowing our souls can never part.
Oh my lovely, put your hand in mine.
Hold on to me, and I'll hold on to you.
Anytime, anywhere.
We've been that way for such a long, long time. I wouldn't want us to be any other way.
